PAMS/AMCS Version 2.01 - February 27, 1992
PAMS/AMCS Version 2.03 - March 15, 1992
There are a number of changes and enhancements in this version
over the previous ones.
1. The ascii documentation files now have a file extenion of
.ASC rather than the old .DOC. This is because the author has
switch to the Microsoft Word word processor which uses .DOC for
its own files. The file ending in .DOC is a Microsoft Word
file.
2. This version now supports both upper and lower case alpha
characters and the full ascii puntuation set on AMTOR. See
PAMS.ASC for the details.
3. If you wish to use this system for MARS operation simple
name the configuration file AMCS.CNF rather than PAMS.CNF and
PAMS will transform itself into a MARS message center. The
system has been modifided to handle the 7-letter calls when in
MARS operation. If operating in PAMS mode, the system will
reject 7-letter calls. Since the standard format for message
addressing does not permit 7-letter designators the system
automatically drops the first letter of a 7-letter call when it
is used in a 'TO', 'AT', of 'FROM' message routing field.
4. You may now limit logins to station you have included in
your users file. See the discussion of the AUTOREGISTER
parameter in the Configuration chapter.
5. You may substitute another token for your call letters when
generating MIDS or BIDS. See the discussion of the MID
parameter in the Configuration chapter.
6. If you have installed the AMT-1 07A ROM then you should add at
least one more parameter to your configuration file. The 07A ROM
provides for a much lower error rate on AMTOR than was previously
possible. You can set the threshold of error control between 1 and 5
where 1 is the tightest control and 5 is the loosest. A setting of 1
will significantly slow your link in most cases where 5 will only be
very slightly slower. The designer of the AMT-1 recommends a setting
of 4 for general user. Include AMT-D=4 in your configuration file.
DO NOT INCLUDE THIS PARAMETER UNLESS YOU HAVE THE 07A ROM.
With the 07A ROM you may also set a flag to disable the FEC mode.
This is useful if you are scanning since the scanner will not stop on
FEC signals. Set AMT-F=0 to disable the FEC mode.
7. Version 2.01 added the feature that searched both the current directory
and the ../MESSAGES directory when naming a file in the SP/SB/ST commands.
8. Version 2.03 corrects bugs reported in version 2.01 and changes the ASCII
and EXPERT commands from toggles to positive commands. The new commands are:
ASCII ON
ASCII OFF
EXPERT ON
EXPERT OFF
